Quizás he podido resolver conflictos con menos confrontación.

THE CONCEPT OF BEING A POLITICAL
Not long ago, someone told me something
that wasn’t actually wrong.
He told me I should be more political.
It’s quite true, to be honest, really certain!! Perhaps if I rethink about it,
he wasn’t the only one who pointed this out, but he was the only one who
allowed me to see two different versions of the same topic.
I don’t think there is an abundance of
people who happily accept it when they’re remarked a mistake or weakness with fluorescence
and highlighted ink. I’m not the exception, I didn’t and don’t like that
prejudice to me, but I always think what they say twice and when the feeling of
my own ego is weak I rehear those words, analyze them and search for
self-construction since that critic.
Without doubts, that appreciation wasn’t
really far from being true. My honesty is my strength and my ruin. Not saying
it all is what I should have done in many occasions.
I should have remained quiet many times; I
shouldn’t have opened to the wrong people and trusted them.
I was wrong, I trusted the people who
actually didn’t appreciate me many times, but they did know how to make a good
use of my kindness, my good faith and my truthfulness.
Maybe I’ve been able to solve problems
without any confrontations. Maybe I could have remained silence a bit and not
say everything I felt or thought.
Perhaps I could have exposed myself a bit
less in some situations.
But that’s my nature, being sharp and
straight, not being able to be condescending even though I try to be so.
During the following months from that
man’s words (which had clearly given me a precious lesson), I reflected about
it more than once, looking for a way to grow. I thought about every labor or
personal situation in which I failed because I was brutally honest, for having
said it all, for not having kept the essential to myself.
During the next time, I could see many
actions in that person who had showed me mi defect. I understood how different
our concept of “being a political” was. Because from that, I learned I have to
process again my neuronal path before speaking or saying what I feel. As this
is quite hard sometimes, because it’s difficult to act against our nature, I
understood that I needed to design my words, speak slower and remain quiet more
often. With practice, this was great.
But who was wisely able to recognize my
honesty as a defect understood that being a political was to “stick” to who
could be useful to jump to its objective. Being a political was to be able to
be by someone’s side when knowing that that someone was able to hurt people
with his/her knowledge.
I understood that being a political for
him was to be able to reach any price, using sunglasses in the darkness to think
that he/she didn’t see what he/she saw and knows.
I could see laughter, applauses, gestures
and looks in a world of pride, fake friendships, egos, power and bronze.
So I learned that maybe my brutal
sincerity wasn’t bad after all.
I understood that I’d never regret for
playing for a conviction or a feeling.
I understood that being that imperfect
could improve my vision of myself that could be seen by my children with pride
as they do when they look at me. But I’ll never disappoint them at being “political”.
It’s hard to me to create the perfect
balance between a well-understood “politic” and the honesty in its mayor
purity. But I learned to work in this as a virtue that turns a defect into light.
I could finally learn to correct. Years teach you, mistakes teach you, tears
teach you… The sad experiences, the hurting consequences, the disappointments…
they all take us to improvement.
I certainly had more joys, achievements
and happy endings for being sincere and not politic.
So I though and went back to think in that
topic of inter controversy, that can only be thanked to that pointer. That look
allowed me to reaffirm my innate value and learn to appreciate that value which
had been learnt in my early childhood.
My essence took me to a reality in which I
wouldn’t get it anywhere with short paths and no obstacles. We all need people to
interpret who we are, to see different versions of ourselves.
That’s why I ask you not to value me in my
profession, charges, honors or highlighted activities. Don’t value me for my
trips, my economic achievements, my languages, my titles, my connections, etc.
Just count on the value of my word, my
attempts, my work, my loyalty and who I am when I’m with you: my patient.
If I was in many places desired by many,
don’t give value to it. Just look at how I got there. Think about what path I
followed to get there, how I risked many things, how the man who loves me made
it possible for my own improvement, how my children supported their mother’s
dream…
Don’t let titles and honors make you think
of me as the best. Give value to what’s important, what’s simple.
I thank that person who believed that was
correcting me a mistake of mine, thinking of his intelligence as a “good
politic”.
It allowed me to think about more than one
thing, to improve, grow and strengthen myself.
Make it worth to you who I am and what my
actions and look tell you when you’re in front of me at the hospital. Make it
worth it to you my words, my help and that I’ll be there if you need help.
Make it worth it to you that I care… that’s
what I want.
